Translational Cell and Tissue Research (TCTR)

Welcome at the website of the Translational Cell and Tissue Research unit

Welcome to the website of the

translational cell and tissue research Unit

The laboratory of translational cell and tissue research is the primary group of the department of pathology. Our mission is focused on building bridges between clinical and fundamental research. To maximize our translational impact, we collaborate intensively with the University Hospitals Leuven (UZLeuven) and various other academic and clinical molecular laboratories.

Our unit consists of 13 pathologists, all active at the University Hospitals Leuven, and 2 full-time research professors.

Research

Various research lines are currently active in our unit, and are led by the following professors:

Prof. Tania Roskams who is the chair of the department of Imaging and Pathology, and head of the Translational Cell and Tissue Research unit.

Prof. Frederik De Smet, who leads the Laboratory for Precision Cancer Medicine (website).

Prof. Dietmar Thal, who leads the laboratory of Neuropathology  (website).

Pathology

We provide extensive pathological review services on human and animal tissue samples. We also have access to the bio-bank of UZLeuven.
